How does Crescat make SSH connections?
Crescat works by running the ssh command-line tool, transferring all your keystrokes to standard input, and taking the screen display from standard output.
How will Crescat work with the public key I have on a host?
There should be no problem. Crescat wil ask you for your public-key passphrase instead of a password. Nothing else should change.
What about hosts that accept only SSH-1 connections?
When you first log in to such a host, press the disclosure button at the lower-left corner of the login panel. This will expose additional options for this connection. One of the options is “SSH Version;” select “1” from the popup menu, and press OK. Crescsat will remember this setting whenever you log into this host with the same user ID.
Will I see error messages from SSH?
Before you are logged in, Crescat passes requests for passwords, passphrases, and verifications of new hosts to you as sheets. Any other message from SSH is assumed to be a fatal error message, and is presented as it was received: After login, Crescat frankly has no way of distinguishing SSH messages from terminal output; any message from SSH will appear in the terminal window.
